According to Sky Sports, Odion Ighalo is expected to sign a £400,000-per-week contract after returning to Shanghai Shenhua.
The 30-year-old looks set to leave Manchester United in the days ahead, after his Chinese Super League club has asked him to return ahead of the season’s delayed restart.
Ighalo’s Red Devils loan deal runs out on May 31.
While United expressed a desire to hold the Nigerian striker longer, so far Shanghai has refused all approaches.
The Chinese club has also given a two-year contract extension to Ighalo, which will see him receiving about £400,000 a week.
Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was impressed with Ighalo, who scored four goals in eight appearances but is said to be “relaxed” because Marcus Rashford is recovered from injury almost completely.
