Top football pundit and former Chairman of Crystal Palace football club, Simon Jordan has blasted Manchester United coach, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, saying he is ‘not the man’ to take United back to the top.

According to Simon Jordan, Manchester United will not return to the top of the football pyramid as long as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in charge.

"Put him up against Klopp, Guardiola, Tuchel, he

He also heavily criticised United forward Anthony Martial during a rant on talkSPORT.

Solskjaer guided the Red Devils to a second place finish in the Premier League and the Europa League final last term, but that is not enough says Jordan.

He said: “Of course he’s [Solskjaer] got mental fortitude. Of course he’s got strength of character.

“That can’t supersede talent, they can run alongside it. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is probably the loveliest man on the planet, he’s probably got loads of backbone and he’s got loads of character.

“I put him up against Tuchel, I put him up against Klopp, I put him up against Guardiola and he’s a pale imitation.

“When it comes down to it, there is a way of communicating and there is a way of producing a side, there is a way of dealing with the media and there is a way of running a football club that illustrates a certain level of talent and I don’t think he has it.

“I do not believe, to bridge the gap with the guile, passion and leverage that Klopp brings in, with the finances that Chelsea and City bring in and the elite management structures they have, too, that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the man to bring Manchester United back to the top of the pyramid.

“Are United about winning the Europa League? I thought they were about winning the Premier League and the Champions League. There is not a parallel universe, in my view, where this guy achieves that.”

Jordan added: “I’ve spoken repeatedly about Martial over the last two or three years in conjunction with Solskjaer and the team he wants to build and success he may or may not have, may not have being my primary observation on that.

“Players like Anthony Martial will embody any reason why he doesn’t have success.

“I think they have moved past players like him now. I think he’s lightweight and he does it when he feels like it. He embodies a period of Manchester United’s buying criteria that doesn’t reflect that well.”
