Uruguay International, Edinson Cavani has perished the idea of travelling to South America for international duties with his country.

The 34-year-old veteran striker will now stay at Old Trafford during the international break.

Uruguay confirmed that the striker will not be travelling for their World Cup qualifiers.

The Premier League had last week announced that clubs had ‘reluctantly but unanimously’ agreed not to release players for international matches which will be played in red-list countries.

Uruguay had gone ahead to include Cavani in their set up for the matches despite the decision.

Cavani was meant to travel with Uruguay to Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador, countries on the UK’s red list.

However, the South American country have now announced via a brief statement that they have ‘cancelled’ Cavani’s call-up for their upcoming fixtures.

Solskjaer had issued a stern warning to Cavani and Fred, asking both South Americans to pick the club over their country.
