Liverpool vs Chelsea: Former Premier League star, Rio Ferdinand has identified the weak point of Chelsea new signing, Romelu Lukaku.<\/p>\n
Ferdinand, who watched Lukaku perform impressively in his debut for Chelsea on Sunday scoring the opening goal, said the Belgian\u2019s hold up play towards goal still needs to improve.<\/p>\n
Lukaku scored Chelsea\u2019s opener and gave Arsenal centre-back Pablo Mari a torrid time throughout the whole match.<\/p>\n
Ferdinand, a former Manchester United and England defender, branded Mari\u2019s attempts to stop Lukaku an \u2019embarrassment\u2019. He also criticised the Gunners\u2019 poor methods in dealing with Chelsea\u2019s new striker.<\/p>\n
But the former Manchester United defender is excited by the prospect of Lukaku\u2019s battle with Virgil van Dijk this weekend as Chelsea face Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n
\u201cI still think Lukaku\u2019s hold-up play outside of the box sometimes leaves a bit to be desired,\u201d Ferdinand said on Vibe with FIVE.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe bullies people, he was like a sixth former playing against first years, that\u2019s what he made the Arsenal centre-backs look like, they didn\u2019t know how to deal with him.<\/p>\n
\u201c[Pablo] Mari was an embarrassment, he didn\u2019t know what to do.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe way they defended against him\u2026 where\u2019s Per Mertesacker or someone like that who\u2019s in the building? Please tell them what to do.<\/p>\n
\u201cBefore the game starts you tell them, \u2018do not get into a physical battle with him, sometimes let him have a touch of the ball then you hit him, if you let him grip you he\u2019s going to roll you and control the whole situation\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe could\u2019ve scored three or four goals if the ball had bounced right.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019ll be interesting next week when we see him against [Virgil] Van Dijk, someone who can handle physically, someone who will match him set for step for pace, and who\u2019s cute, who\u2019s an intelligent defender.\u201d<\/p>\n
